dear alma lopez, i was happy to find your site and to read about the responses to your digital image of La Guadalupe. i believe you have much courage and understanding of la cultura and your modern place within it to portray such an image. my own current work is devoted to Our Lady but perhaps because i am from an older generation than you, raised within the traditional confines of the catholic church, my work is not yet capable of being so daring. but i have looked for new interpretations of Our Lady's place in our lives. if you care to see my digital work dedicated to Nuestra Senora, it is at http://www.guadalupearte.com thank you for inspiring me with your vision.

sincerely, kleya forte-escamilla

Subject: Student presenting on Alma Lopez

Dear Alma, I'm a student at Loyola University Chicago. I'm working on a group presentantio on activist latina artists for may Latina Writers class. I came accross with your work and I thought it was really interesting. I had never heard about digital printing and I was appalled by the attempts to remove your work from the CyberArte exhibit in New Mexico. But I never found out what happened at the end. Did "Our Lady" stay in the exhibit until the end? Can you tell me a little bit more about your work? When did you start and what are your main topics, apart from women's rights to own their bodies and work conditions, as I could see in your website? Have you seen any changes in the lives of Latinas since you started your work? What are the main challenges Latinas have still to overcome in this country? I really thank you for your time. This is going to be a great presentation. I know the other students are going to love learning about your work as much as I am!

Best wishes. Angeles Perez.
