Subject: I am glad you created the "Our Lady" photograph

To: alma310@sbcglobal.net

I find it interesting that this photo enraged so many people. To me it says a great deal about the way the feminine form is sexualized by society. A virgin by definition is someone who has never had sexual intercourse. A woman can be a virgin even when she is naked or in a bikini. The fact that so many peple are outraged shows that an attitude of shame is prevelant. Your depiction of "Our Lady" was a personal expression of your own spirituality. The fact that your expression differs from a more traditional expression is alright. No two people see God the exact same way. Your personal expression is just as valid as the more traditional depiction. I think it is very brave of you to take a stand againt countless years of patriarichal dominance and imposed shame.
