About Me

 

I am a Senior at Loyola Marymount Univeristy. I am majoring in Women's Studies and decided to do my project on Helena Viramontes because she takes up women's issues in all of her works. I think she is one of the most talented Chicana writers who emphasizes the importance of women's experiences and issues, specifically Chicana women. These are often times overlooked even in feminism and feminist literature, so I truly value her works because many times our voices are neglected. I hope the future brings more Chicana writers and artists that will put our voices out there for the rest of the world to experience.I am truly grateful to the women like Viramontes who use personal experiences to let others know they're not alone. It is courages and truly admirable to be allowed into someoens personal life as such.
