"LIL WING"

~Krystal Burns~

My interest in creating this website for Barbara Carrasco came from having the privilege of taking a mural class with the artist, here at Loyola Marymount University.  I am a triple major studying Chicana/o Studies, Communications Studies and Spanish. Aside from my full time job as a student, I try to spend my "free" time with those I love, who are family and friends.

My families represent multiple ethnicities, and cultures I take great pride in being part of. My mother was born in Mexico City but was raised in Los Angeles, California. My father was born in Greenville, South Carolina and grew up all around the US. Both of my parents are my everything and I am so honored to have them as my parents, mentors and best friends.

During my career at LMU, I have been inspired by social justice and hope to pursue a career that allows me to put into practice what I believe in. After graduating, I hope to spend more time with those I have not been able to throughout these four years and learn my family’s histories before they become a mystery. I hope to travel around the US and Mexico, to visit with family members and live in new areas to experience new lifestyles and cultures.

By having the opportunity to design Barbara Carrasco’s website, I have been motivated to want to pursue my own interest in drawing and painting. Although I am still a “rookie” in the art field, I would like to spend more time learning new techniques and ways that express my being and passions in life.
