Patricia Irene Otero

Patricia Otero, is a 22 year old, senior Political Science major, Theology minor at Loyola Marymount University. This website was a class project for a Chicana/o Studies class about Chicanas and Latinas in the U.S. Each student needed to pick an activist, writer, or artist, who currently did not have a website solely dedicated to them. I chose Martha Cotera because she is a Chicana feminist activist, writer, and historian. I liked that she participated in Latino Political organizations, especially the Mujeres Por Raza Unida Caucus which focused on getting Chicana women elected to political office. As a Political Science major, I know how difficult it is to convince women to run for political office, and then to get them elected.

After graduation, I plan to work for a year or two with a non-profit organization, preferably one that deals with the environemnt. Later, I plan to apply to law schools and hope to study environmental law.
